THROWING MONEY IN A HOLE

Yeah, I'm feeling frustrated again. Let's make it a drinking game and take a shot.

The film festival "game" isn't as fun as I thought it'd be. I got another rejection today. So far, that makes us 1-5 (1 yes, 5 no's). I probably shouldn't include Sundance and Slamdance in there (because those were longshots), but I will anyway. I can't tell if that's a good percentage or not, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Still, I'm waiting to hear from about 50 more fests.

Because of the way festivals work, I'm entering early so I can get a super-discounted rate. That means I'm paying now but won't hear back for 6-9 months. I might as well be tossing Visa cards into a wishing well.

On the plus side, I did get a kind note from a festival organizer - and I didn't even enter their festival! She happened across our portal on the FilmFreeway site (only visible to festivals) and wrote to me to say how hilarious our trailer was. Unfortunately, their festival's theme is about films featuring dance. Dangit! I knew I should've choreographed a musical number in our movie!

Oh well. Everyone think positive thoughts so we start getting more "yes" responses. And let's hope this vaccination rollout gets going so I can see this thing with all of you!
